QME 2016

Queensland Mining and Engineering Exhibition 2016 was another successful expo!

This year there were around 200 local and global exhibitors including China, Poland and the US.

Just a couple of the other big names in the industry exhibiting alongside White Industries was Toyota, SEW Eurodrive, ESS Engineering, Flexco, Metso, and Endress + Hauser. SEW Eurodrive announced at the exhibition, its plans to open a new facility in Mackay early next year.

Despite the current mining slump, there was still strong attendance at the event.

Mackay Mayor, Greg Williamson, opened the event, stating:
“QME has long been associated with Mackay, and we are pleased to host this event”.

Williamson said events like this, as well as record export levels from Hay Point and Dalrymple Bay proves that mining is still a strong industry, adding that while high prices are no longer the norm, the industry is shifting to becoming more sustainable.

While the event has been smaller this year compared to previous years in terms of size, there is evidence that exhibitors at QME were able to engage with high quality buyers and specifiers.

The Bowen Basin Mining Club also held the Queensland Mining Contractor Awards in conjunction with QME. The Team Engineering Group (White Industries customers) won the Queensland Mining and Energy Bulletin’s Contractor of the Year Award for its development of a unique lift solution for a 143.6 tonne portal frame, cutting the number of cranes needed and delivering the frame to site with structural integrity intact.

Congratulations Team Engineering Group!
