The PACIFIC 2017 International Maritime Exposition is a project of the not-for-profit Industry Defence and Security Australia Limited in the interest of promoting the development of Australia’s industrial manufacturing and communications/technology resources in the maritime and naval defence sectors. It is specifically developed to satisfy the needs of industry, government and defence professionals across the broad spectrum of maritime affairs.
The event had some impressive political VIP’s in attendance such as the Minister for Defence, Senator the Hon Marise Payne,  the Minister Defence Industry the Hon Christopher Pyne MP and Foreign Affairs Minister the Hon Julie Bishop MP.
The Prime Minister, the Hon Malcolm Turnbull MP, used the event to make a number of significant announcements concerning the Royal Australian Navy and the ministers spoke at official functions and visited displays on the exhibition floor.
In all, 41 delegations at Chief of Navy or counterpart level came from the Americas, the United Kingdom, mainland Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Oceania. Australia was represented by 21 official delegations consisting of Navy, Defence, Austrade and various state governments. Consular delegations from the United Kingdom, the United States and France also had a high profile presence at the event.
